As an international professional, joining a trade union might feel unfamiliar or even unnecessary. But in Denmark, it is a normal and trusted part of working life.

You get the first 3 months free of charge and with no obligations – giving you time to try out our services before becoming a paying member.

Membership fees are charged quarterly, though your first payment may be billed mid-quarter Membership fees are tax deductible in Denmark, typically in part. Djøf reports your fee automatically to the Danish Tax Authorities.

Can I join Djøf as a student?

Yes, absolutely. Many of our members are students.

As a student, you get your first 12 months of membership free of charge – with full access to all the same benefits as paying members.

What if I am a member of a Nordic partner union?

If you are a member of one of our Nordic partner unions, you can join Djøf for free – for up to one year.

To qualify, you must maintain your regular membership in your home organization and apply for free membership with Djøf as soon as you move to Denmark or start looking for a job here.

Can I get a tax deduction for my Djøf membership?

Yes – in Denmark, union membership fees are tax deductible, up to a maximum of 6,000 DKK per year.

You do not need to do anything to receive the deduction. Djøf reports your membership fee directly to the Danish Tax Authorities, and the deduction is applied automatically – even if your fee or membership type changes.

When you join Djøf, you can choose to update your advance statement – the income information used to calculate your tax – to receive the deduction sooner.
