'Beyond the Light' at the MET

Join Djøf New York for morning coffee followed by a guided tour of the critically acclaimed 'Beyond the Light' exhibition at the MET.

Morgenmøde

What is the event about?

Djøf New York, in partnership with American Friends of SMK (AFSMK), is excited to invite members and friends to join us for morning coffee in Central Park followed by a curator-led tour of ‘Beyond the Light. Identity and Place in Nineteenth-Century Danish Art’ at The Metropolitan Museum of Art.

The exhibition is organized by The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the J. Paul Getty Museum, in collaboration with SMK - The National Gallery of Denmark.

This is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy an exclusive and intimate viewing of the exhibition with the curators, the day before it leaves the museum to get exhibited in Los Angeles for the rest of the spring and summer.

What the critics are saying

Wall Street Journal: "The best of these humble, Danish pictures are emotionally resonant-expressive of more than their particular time and place. They achieve a transcendent idealism precisely because of their artists’ insistence on an unembellished naturalism".

Village Voice: "Featuring a wide range of media, these works depict friends and fellow artists, rustic travel scenes, and solitary views of the city and the natural world. In their attunement to the dazzling optical effects of light, reflection, and shadow, these pieces are intensely satisfying for any museum-goer, even one with no background or prior interest in Danish art"
