Sheffield EYBA Annual Conference 2010
Sheffield is pleased to be welcoming the EYBA for its Annual Conference this year.
Sheffield is a world – renowned Industrial centre, famous as the birthplace of mass steel production. It is also home to the oldest Football Club in the World, Sheffield FC, founded in 1857. Today Sheffield is one of the Greenest Cities in Europe with 61 percent of the city being parkland, and home to over 16,000 Students at two prestigious Universities.
While many EYBA members may have visited the UK in the past, we hope to be able to show you an alternative view of the country, as opposed to the perceptions that you may have from having attended events in London.
Sheffield is located in the north of England, on the edge of the Peak District National Park. Chatsworth House, setting for the 2008 screen adaptation of "The Duchess" starring Keira Knightly is a short 30 minute drive from the city centre.
Sheffield has the largest Arts centre outside of London, with several theatres and four major Art Galleries, including the Millennium Galleries which plays host to various exhibitions from the Tate Galleries. We also have the highest ratio of pubs per capita in the UK, including the Kelham Island Tavern, recently voted Pub of the Year 2010, retaining the title for the second year running.
Manchester is a 45 minute train ride from Sheffield, offering further opportunities for shopping, or perhaps the chance to take in a game at Premier League Football Clubs Manchester United and Manchester City. Meanwhile Sheffield is also home to Sheffield Untied and Sheffield Wednesday Football clubs, along with the Sheffield Steelers Ice Hockey team.
The Conference will take place from Thursday 10th to Saturday 12th June 2010. New for 2010 will be the EYBA Student Conference, taking place on Thursday 10th June and kindly hosted by Sheffield University. This event will involve both plenary and break – out sessions led by International lawyers attending the conference, offering them an opportunity to share their experiences of Legal practice all over the world with the lawyers of tomorrow currently studying in Sheffield.
Sheffield is less than 45 minutes by train from Manchester and Leeds Airports and only two hours by train from London should you wish to fly in to Heathrow or Gatwick Airport. Should you have any queries regarding attending the Conference, or are perhaps interested in being one of the Speakers during our Student Conference, please send an email to info@eyba.org with "Sheffield 2010 Conference" in the subject header.
We look forward to welcoming you to our city in June.
